If the latest Mini Monitor is anything to go by, Paradigm's gen-seven redesign of the Monitor Series is an unqualified success. These speakers are voiced to mate gently with less expensive electronics but still have enough power handling to suit aggressive movie soundtracks and rock 'n' roll... In general, these speakers would be great all-around performers at any price. At their asking price, they're a superb value.

...the Monitors were immensely satisfying on both music and movies. I never felt the need to rush through a listening session. In fact, on both movies and music, each session often lasted far longer than I had planned. If you're shopping in this price range, or even twice that, you need to audition the Monitor Series 7.

The speakers display the expected mini monitor (as in type not model name) virtues ' excellent imaging and precise instrument placement, along with plenty of speed and an overall feeling of cohesion and driver integration... In the great audiophile scheme of things, it's distinctly entry level but it genuinely did the business and kept me happy for as long as I had it running, even with humble sources... it seemed that I could live with the system forever and never really want any more.

The fit and finish were top-notch Paradigm with no splitting seams, exposed screws, or peeling veneers. In fact, after being so impressed with their sound I was surprised when I examined them more closely to find the Rosenut wood finish to be vinyl. The sound was so much more expensive and led me to believe they had a solid wood finish or veneer... These speakers are a must buy for your close-range listening environment. They have a respectable low end, are not fatiguing in any way, and very smooth. Well done.

...the Mini Monitor v.7 from Paradigm is yet another hit in a long stream of hits from the Canadian speaker manufacturer. Version 7's updated appearance, drivers and sonics make it the best Mini Monitor yet. While the Mini Monitor still requires the use of a sub for full range sound reproduction and is suitable for use in small to medium rooms it's still a capable performer and huge value for the money. Apartment dwelling audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts should rejoice for they have yet another compact and affordable solution in the Mini Monitor v.7.

Initial listening impressions across the board are very favorable. I set them up for stereo playback, and within a couple tracks, I noted bass so deep, that I had to make sure I had disabled my subwoofer! We can only surmise what the towers have in store for us. Imaging was highly localized, and the midrange was devoid of harmonics that would have otherwise turned it to mush. The highs were pinpoint sharp and detailed. The Minis seem capable of prodigious output, handling mucho watts, yet they won't need as much as some of Paradigm's other smaller speakers, these being a couple of dB more efficient. On the whole, they delivered a most satisfying listening experience... The Series 7 Monitors are going to set an exciting new performance precedent at their entry level price points, which over the past two decades is exactly what we have come to expect from Paradigm. When I first received the Mini Monitors ahead of the other pieces, I dropped them into my system as a stereo pair and was floored. This is Paradigm's entry level 6-incher'!' Then the rest of the set arrived and things really started cooking... The Mini Monitors are an instant classic, the Center 1 is so very hifi that I wonder what three would be like as an L/C/R set, and the Surround 1 continues the legacy of delivering the best surround sound field you can put into a home theatre... The Series 7, like so many Paradigms before them, are speakers which have the potential to become heirlooms!

A 5.5-inch surround with carbon-infused polypropylene cone with a larger PPA lens handles the midrange frequency driver, and two 5.5-inch ART surround polypropylene cones provide the bottom end.
