So what was I missing before I tried the Paradigm SUB 1' One thing was bass that integrated with my speakers and filled in those lower octaves, but without drawing unnecessary attention to itself. I was also missing out on notes that I can feel in my body and not even the movie theater could reproduce. In the end I was really missing another dimension to music and movies that I had survived without, but no longer want to give up... The SUB 1 brought home performance that bested what I could get in the theater and never disappointed. Just make sure to fasten everything in the room down when you decide to let it rip.

It was exqusite... It offered polite aplomb and a lovely underpinning effect to tighten up the rest of a stereo sound stage... I have no hesitation in recommending Paradigm's product to anyone hunting for a top-flight woofer. Especially if they like a bit of style to go with their substance.

What value did I place on hearing things I had never heard before in my tired old recordings' How much was it worth to have friends come over and spend two hours with a massive grin on their faces as the Paradigm's did their job with whatever film we had chosen' Finally, what was it worth to have my wife repeatedly ask me to turn it up instead of down' Am I willing to spend that kind of money on audio gear' After hearing these speakers, the answer is a simple and emphatic, YES!

The Sub 1, with its unique hexagonal shape and six drivers, deserves special mention for its ability to fill my room with massive amounts of bass without noticeable distortion. This ultraclean reproduction of low frequencies allowed it to disappear aurally, yet still rattle objects at opposite ends of the room... the Sub 1 energized my entire room while maintaining a tight grip on every note. That grip was so absolute that it sometimes felt as if the Sub 1 was directly coupled to my room; no matter how loudly I played it, the bass was evenly distributed, with little, if any, distortion.

A 5.5-inch surround with carbon-infused polypropylene cone with a larger PPA lens handles the midrange frequency driver, and two 5.5-inch ART surround polypropylene cones provide the bottom end.
